Take-Two Interactive has officially confirmed that Rockstar Games is on track to release GTA 6 in Fall 2025, despite recent delays rumors that have stirred the gaming community.
GTA 6 is arguably one of the most awaited titles in gaming history, with fans eagerly awaiting over 11 years since the last release in this legendary open-world series.
When the first trailer for the game was launched and broke multiple records, Rockstar announced its goal to release GTA VI in 2025.
Subsequently, Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, refined the release window to Fall 2025. They have steadfastly adhered to this timeline despite ongoing rumors of a possible delay.
According to Take-Two’s 2024 annual report, the planned Fall 2025 release for GTA 6 is still on track, and more details about the game will be revealed soon.

“Rockstar Games continues to invest in the franchise and plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall of Calendar 2025. The company revealed the first trailer for the title in December 2023 and will provide further updates over time,” stated Take-Two on page 3 of its report.
Speculation about a delay initiated in September when a user on X, known as ‘billsyliamgta’, claimed to have insider information suggesting the game’s launch would be postponed by a year.
This rumor created a frenzy in the community, prompting journalist Jason Schreier to contact Rockstar staff regarding the potential delay, with six employees denying the allegations. However, considering the immense scale and complexity of GTA 6, a postponement could still be feasible.
I want to be very clear: Six staff told me they weren’t *informed* of a delay. For all I know, Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without telling the company. But the lack of internal announcement suggests that the Twitter rumor was nonsense

“It’s a big, ambitious game and could very well slip! There’s still too much time left to say anything definitive,” Schreier noted. “I want to be very clear: Six staff told me they weren’t informed of a delay. For all I know, Rockstar’s executive team could have decided months ago to delay GTA VI without informing the team.”
This recent update from Take-Two is promising news for fans eagerly awaiting the game’s second trailer and a confirmed launch date as GTA VI approaches its anticipated arrival in just a year.
