ROG Ally X: Massive RAM & Battery Upgrade Leak

According to a recent leak, the upcoming iteration of the Asus ROG Ally is expected to provide a boost in performance with a significant increase in RAM.

According to a recent leak, Asus is determined to compete with the Steam Deck by offering upgraded specifications on their latest model of the Asus ROG Ally. While initial reports mentioned increased battery and RAM capacity for the Asus ROG Ally X, this new leak reveals specific numbers.

According to the information leaked by Arsene Lupin on his Twitter account, the upcoming Asus ROG Ally X model will be equipped with a massive 24GB of memory, twice the amount currently available in the market. Lupin also reveals that the device will utilize LPDDR5X technology, resulting in improved memory speeds. Additionally, the technology will allow users to allocate more system memory to VRAM, ultimately enhancing the overall performance of the device.

Lupin also revealed that the ROG Ally X would have a bigger battery, allowing for a battery life of up to eight hours. In a previous post on X/Twitter, the leaker also hinted at the possible price, indicating that the Ally X could be sold at a launch price of $799, which is $100 more than the current model.

During a recent hands-on experience, The Verge was able to test an engineering sample of the upcoming handheld device. The prototype appeared to have a design very similar to the original model, but with slight modifications to accommodate a larger battery, resulting in a slightly larger and heavier device. Additionally, minor adjustments were made to the placement and feel of the D-pad, face buttons, and triggers.

Despite Asus only confirming limited information about the Ally X, such as its capability to support M.2 2280 SSDs, users can expect a wider range of storage options. The device will also feature the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU and 7-inch screen as its predecessor. More details about the handheld are expected to be revealed by the company on June 2.
