Roh Jeong-eui, the talented actress, is experiencing a challenging period in her career. Her recent drama, “The Witch, ”concluded with dismal reviews, adding to the disappointment following Netflix’s “Hierarchy.”Since her notable role in “Our Beloved Summer, ”she has struggled to find a project that resonates well with audiences, prompting some fans to express concerns over her “string of bad luck.”Nevertheless, she is optimistic about her future, with two romantic comedies, “Bunny and Her Boys”and “I’ll Give You the Universe, ”slated for release this year, featuring co-stars Lee Chae-min and Bae In-hyuk.
Low Ratings for “The Witch”
The final episode of “The Witch, ” which aired on March 16, recorded a mere 2.6% viewership rating. This was significantly lower than its predecessor, “Check-in Hanyang, ”which wrapped up with a 4.2% rating. Despite its intriguing premise—rooted in an original webtoon by Kang Full—and the inclusion of notable cameos, the show failed to capture sustained public interest. Viewers criticized the drama for its repetitive narratives and slow pacing, labeling it as “boring, ” which adversely impacted its ratings.

In addition to the creative shortcomings, the drama’s abrupt conclusion faced sharp criticism. The lengthy buildup culminated in a finale that left many feeling unsatisfied, with comments such as, “It feels unfinished” and “Such a waste of the lead actors.” Expectations for Roh Jeong-eui’s character arc were high, which only magnified the letdown for her loyal fans.
Facing a Series of Setbacks
This latest disappointment follows her role in “Hierarchy, ”which was panned for being “contrived and overly sensational.” Given that Roh Jeong-eui has not had a significant hit since “Our Beloved Summer, ”concerns about her career trajectory have begun to surface.

Can New Romantic Projects Revitalize Her Career?
Nevertheless, there is a glimmer of hope. On April 4, she is set to return with MBC’s “Bunny and Her Boys, ”a lively romantic comedy centered on Bunny (played by Noh Jung-eui), who is navigating love after a troubled first relationship. This project promises a stark contrast to the darker themes of “The Witch, ”allowing her youthful charm to shine through.

Among her four male co-stars is Lee Chae-min, who reunites with Roh after “Hierarchy.”While that drama received negative reviews, the chemistry between the two garnered positive attention, raising expectations for their collaboration in this new venture.
Later in the year, she will also feature alongside Bae In-hyuk in tvN’s “I’ll Give You the Universe, ”a romantic narrative revolving around in-laws who must navigate misunderstandings while raising a child together.
With 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Roh Jeong-eui has steadily built an impressive filmography. However, industry insiders indicate that she is in dire need of a breakthrough role—one that showcases her distinct charm and versatility in a refreshing light.
