BLACKPINK’s Rosé is making a significant impact in the global music scene with her new single “APT.,” a collaboration with Bruno Mars, while also gaining recognition for her official status as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), bestowed upon her by the British Royal Family.
Since its release on October 18th, “APT.” has captured both national and international attention, surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify within just seven days. This achievement sets a record for the fastest a K-pop female solo artist has reached this milestone, placing her second overall among K-pop artists, with BTS’s Jungkook being the first to do so in under a week.
The song has also made a notable impact on the UK Official Singles Chart, debuting at No. 4—the highest ranking for a female K-pop artist to date. The Official Charts office described her as “New Zealand-born, Australia-raised Roseanne Park MBE,” drawing attention to her royal honor in their announcement.
Rosé was honored with the MBE distinction by King Charles III on November 22nd of last year, an accolade that has sparked renewed interest among fans and media. Unlike her BLACKPINK counterparts, who received honorary MBEs for their ambassadorial efforts at COP26 in 2023, Rosé was formally awarded the MBE due to her citizenship in New Zealand, a member of the Commonwealth. This prestigious title may position her for potential knighthood in the future, similar to The Beatles’ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, who both received knighthoods after their MBEs. This honor also allows her the exclusive privilege to marry at St. Paul’s Cathedral, a venue known for royal weddings.
In another groundbreaking achievement, as of October 25th, Rosé has become the first K-pop solo artist to lead both the US and Global Spotify charts, dominating both weekly rankings. She stands out as the first K-pop artist to secure the No. 1 spot on the US weekly chart, and early predictions indicate a strong possibility of her debuting in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Moreover, Rosé’s personal YouTube channel “ROSÉ” has reached over 10 million subscribers, qualifying her for YouTube’s prestigious Diamond Creator Award. This milestone makes her the fifth Korean solo artist to achieve this, following in the footsteps of PSY, JFLA, Jennie, and Lisa.
Looking forward, Rosé is gearing up for the release of her debut full-length album titled “Rosie” on December 6th. The album consists of 12 tracks, including the title song, with Rosé actively involved in writing and composing all of the songs to share her personal journey through music.
