Elden Ring: Nightreign features a complex gameplay element known as Remembrances, which play a pivotal role in the game’s narrative and character development. Unlike its predecessor, which delved into the world’s history, this spin-off centers around the backstories of its eight playable characters and their journeys that lead them to combat the Nightlords.
Understanding Remembrance Quests
Each Remembrance quest serves as a detailed chronicle of significant life events for the characters, including forthcoming challenges. As players engage with different characters and embark on Expeditions, they enrich their Journal entries with additional lore. Eventually, this culminates in the unlocking of a Remembrance.
Activating a Remembrance within the Journal will transport you to an alternate version of the Roundtable Hold, where an NPC will provide insights and assign a task to complete in Limveld.
The objectives of these quests can vary substantially, often mandating players to defeat a specific enemy or boss in the open world to retrieve a quest item. It’s notable that you don’t need to finish an Expedition after completing a Remembrance objective to continue your progress.
Steps to Complete Remembrance Quests
- Access the Journal in the Roundtable Hold.
- Initiate the chosen character’s Remembrance (if available).
- Fulfill the highlighted objective in Limveld.
- Conclude and exit the Remembrance to receive your reward.
Accessing the Journal
Navigate to the designated area in the Roundtable Hold to locate the Journal. This resource allows you to monitor each Nightfarer’s progress and initiate any available Remembrances.

Fulfill Character-Specific Objectives
Upon starting a Remembrance, you will likely be directed to an NPC within the Roundtable Hold, who will assign you a particular task. For instance, the character Guardian may find themselves directed by the Iron Menial to hunt down and defeat a unique enemy, which will only appear during that specific Remembrance. These targets will be clearly marked on the Limveld map with a distinctive icon.

Your progress in completing the objective will be saved whether you succeed or fail the Expedition, allowing for flexibility in gameplay. If you’re playing solo and focused on Remembrance completion, you can exit to the main menu and reload your save to streamline the process.
Claim Your Unique Rewards
After you return to the Roundtable Hold, engage with the NPC to finalize your task. Some Remembrance quests, including those related to Wylder, may involve additional minor challenges, such as solving riddles or puzzles within the Hold.
A successfully completed Remembrance will spawn a portal nearby, signifying your return to the current timeline along with a reward, typically in the form of a Relic. For example, completing Wylder’s first Remembrance grants the Slate Whetstone, which enhances his Claw Shot ability.

These Remembrances can be undertaken solo or in a cooperative setting. However, keep in mind that only one Remembrance can be active per session, and their appearance is not guaranteed, even if all prerequisites are met.
