Fans Call OG Apex Legend “Garbage” and Demand Significant Buffs

Apex Legends players are vocalizing their frustrations over an original legend, Caustic, who they feel is now “absolutely garbage.” Following the changes introduced in Season 24, the demand for significant buffs is louder than ever.

Upon its launch over five years ago, Apex Legends featured a modest selection of characters. Today, however, the roster has expanded significantly. While new characters aren’t released every season, the sheer number of options available has made it challenging for older legends to maintain their relevance in-game.

The balance of power among legends has shifted, leading to noticeable disparities. Caustic, once regarded as a formidable choice, is now facing a steep decline in pick rates as players label him as “worthless.”

Caustic’s Performance Under Fire

In a Reddit discussion, user No-Status4969 expressed their disbelief about Caustic’s current state. They posed the question: “What’s the point of playing him now if no one respects the gas? Did Respawn just destroy all of his character identity? There’s just too many ways around it.”

The critique highlighted that Caustic’s gas abilities have dramatically weakened: “His gas does little to no damage so people just walk through, it doesn’t slow anymore, and it fails to blind opponents. If you trigger his trap, you can just shoot it and the smoke barely lingers at all.”

Another player reinforced this sentiment, stating, “His cans used to be a real threat with the slowing.” This led to calls for a rework, with one player noting, “I’d say the guy needs a rework at this point.”

Veteran players who have long mained Caustic are becoming disillusioned as well. One devoted player remarked, “He’s truly the worst legend in the game after Seer, and I say that as someone who has over 5k Caustic kills and multiple master badges from past seasons.”

Notably, changes in Season 24 have notably boosted the assault class, making them “OP, ” while Caustic remains untouched in this patch. There is hope among the community that upcoming updates will restore some balance and relevance to this iconic legend.
