To utilize this functionality, ensure you have the necessary app versions: Phone Link version 1.25062.83.0 or later, and Link to Windows beta version 1.25071.155 or later. Additionally, you must activate the “Remote PC controls” option within your Windows 11 “Mobile devices” settings.

This feature is currently accessible through the Windows Insider Program and may be subject to updates as Microsoft continues to enhance user experience. Other capabilities under this framework include improved file sharing and clipboard access, making it a valuable tool for multitasking and productivity.

Steps to Lock Your Windows 11 PC Remotely

To set up remote locking of your Windows 11 PC using your Android device, follow these straightforward steps:

  1. Launch the Link to Windows application on your Android phone.
  2. (Optional) Select your linked computer by clicking the profile menu.
  3. Tap the Lock PC button.
  4. Confirm by tapping the Lock button.

After completing these steps, your Windows 11 PC will lock immediately. Note that access can only be regained through physical interaction with the computer.

Setting Up Remote PC Control

Before you can lock your computer remotely, ensure that you’ve installed the Link to Windows (beta) app on your Android device and that you are signed in with the same Microsoft account linked to your Windows 11 configuration.

To activate the “Remote PC controls” feature, execute the following steps:

  1. Open Settings on your Windows 11 device.
  2. Select Bluetooth & Devices.
  3. Access the Mobile devices section.
  4. Enable the Phone Link toggle switch.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to ensure your PC and Android device are properly linked.
  6. Turn on the switch for “Allow this PC to access your mobile devices”.
  7. Click on the Manage devices button.
  8. Activate the “Remote PC controls” toggle switch.

Once these configurations are complete, you are fully equipped to lock your Windows PC from your Android phone. It is important to note that this feature is currently not available for users with iOS devices.
