Ryan Gosling’s Heartwarming Reason for Rejecting ‘Dark’ Movie Roles

Despite being a talented actor, Ryan Gosling has made it clear that he has no plans to pursue darker roles in the near future, as he recently disclosed the reason behind this decision to his fans.

Despite viewers’ desires to see him in dark psychological thrillers, Gosling has made it clear that he will not pursue such roles in the future. He prioritizes maintaining a healthy mental state for his family and therefore prefers to take on lighter roles.

While discussing his action comedy The Fall Guy with The Wall Street Journal, the actor revealed that he chooses not to take on roles that will lead him to a dark place. He explained that he always considers his family, particularly his partner Eva Mendes, when making career decisions. In light of current events, he carefully assesses the situation at home before making any choices.

The actor then proceeded to consider how his career transitioned from serious thrillers and dramas to more lighthearted films, and the positive effect that change had on his personal life with Mendes and their two daughters.

According to Gosling, he believes that La La Land was the first film to incorporate his children’s interests into his acting process. Even though they were not physically present on set, he found joy in practicing piano, dancing, and singing with his children. Their preference for Barbie over Ken served as motivation for him, and he was inspired by the fact that they were already creating their own Barbie movies on the iPad. As he went off to work on his own movie, he felt a sense of alignment with his children.

Gosling has expressed his desire to take on more lighthearted roles before, as he revealed to GQ when he landed the role of Ken in Barbie, “There’s something about this particular version of Ken that I feel really connects with my past self. The guy who used to wear Hammer pants, dance at the mall, and douse himself in Drakkar Noir and Aqua Net to style his bangs. I owe a lot to that version of myself. I admit I distanced myself from him when I started doing more serious films, but truthfully, he’s the reason for everything I have now.”

Despite the actor’s lack of announcement on his next project after The Fall Guy, it wouldn’t be unexpected for him to showcase his comedic talent. However, for fans of Gosling’s more intense roles in films like Drive, this update may come as a letdown.
