Ryan Reynolds almost trolled fans with “horrible” Deadpool & Wolverine cut

Ryan Reynolds, known for his roles in Deadpool and Wolverine, recently shared that he had a plan to play a prank on Marvel fans by creating a completely fake movie.

Despite keeping the cameos, Easter eggs, and pop music moments in Deadpool & Wolverine a secret until the movie’s release, Reynolds proposed an even more secretive approach for the production.

During his appearance on the popular YouTube series Hot Ones, the Deadpool star revealed that he had a desire to keep the entire movie a secret. He even went as far as pitching the idea of filming a completely fake film in order to throw people off track.

Reynolds clarified that the initial concept for the film was to create a mock movie titled Alpha Cop, purposely designed to be of low quality. He even went as far as having a poster made for it. The plot centered around two individuals who shared a single brain, combining their abilities to become the ultimate cop.

He persisted, explaining that the movie was “[The tagine]”with “two cops, one brain, all balls.”The intention was for it to be purposely terrible, with only a small number of people in America likely to see it on its opening weekend. However, just five minutes into the movie, the Marvel logo would appear, revealing that it was actually a crossover between Deadpool and Wolverine.

Ultimately, the crew opted against filming the Marvel movie under a different banner due to the fear that if the project fell through at the last minute, it would be devastating.

The use of deceptive methods to safeguard the plot twists and surprises in Marvel films is not a new strategy, as evidenced by previous projects such as Deadpool and Wolverine.

The cast of Avengers: Endgame were famously misled into thinking they were filming a wedding scene for the end of the movie, only to discover that it was actually a funeral for Iron Man.

Despite the constant fan anticipation and #DontSpoilTheEndgame trend, Marvel Studios has been highly successful in preventing major spoilers from being revealed before the theatrical release of Avengers: Endgame.

Despite the potential excitement of witnessing Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and their crew attempt to film Deadpool & Wolverine in secret, there was always the risk of something going awry, such as leaked set photos or an unintentional slip during an interview.

In addition, it would be beneficial to explore the various upcoming Marvel films that are set to be released.
