On April 30th, Bada shared a photo of NewJeans’s new song on her official account with the caption, “Despite the complicated stories of adults…the process of preparing an album is always difficult and demanding for idols…I can only imagine how exhausting it must have been for these young friends this time.”
She expressed, “I understand that my junior idols may be facing difficult times in their own lives, but I hope they are able to persevere through these precious moments that will not come again. I have faith that they will mature and find even greater happiness. All of the junior idols in Korea are truly remarkable and I offer my full support to each and every one of them.”
Bada’s statement of “complicated stories of adults”appeared to allude to the dispute between ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin, who was responsible for producing NewJeans, and HYBE, the parent company of ADOR. HYBE had previously accused Min Hee-jin and other executives of trying to gain control over ADOR’s management after conducting an audit of the label on April 22nd.
On the 25th, HYBE responded to Min Hee-jin’s alleged breach of duty by filing a complaint against her. In response, Min Hee-jin held an emergency press conference on the same day and denied all accusations made against her.
Despite the company’s internal confusion, NewJeans is still gearing up for their comeback and showing support for their CEO Min Hee-jin. In addition, the female CEO demonstrated her love for the members by sharing the teaser for their new digital single on her personal account.
Additionally, NewJeans has announced plans to release two singles in Korea and Japan. The first single, set to be released on May 24th, will include the title track “How Sweet”and the pre-release song “Bubble Gum”. The second single, to be released on June 21st, will feature “Supernatural”and “Right Now”. Along with these releases, the girl group will be promoting their music in both countries. To celebrate their new music, NewJeans will also be hosting a fanmeeting at Tokyo Dome on June 26th and 7th.
At midnight on April 27th, NewJeans released the music video for their song “Bubble Gum”and received a positive response from music fans. By 10 a.m. on the 27th, the MV had already garnered 4 million views, ranking it as the third most viewed video on YouTube within 24 hours. The group also demonstrated their impact by trending on YouTube in several countries and regions.
