S1mple’s CS2 Class Refunded After Scam Lessons Taken Down

Those who bought access to the Play Like S1mple club and educational program for $149 report that they are now receiving refunds for their purchases and the video tutorials have been made private.

On June 3, Oleksandr ‘s1mple‘ Kostyljev and ESL FACEIT Group collaborated to launch the Play Like S1mple project, aimed at educating Counter-Strike 2 players. The project included instructional sessions from s1mple and other experts, exhibition matches, community competitions, and various other events.

On social media, s1mple expressed his desire to establish a genuine bond with his followers by organizing various online and offline activities for them, in addition to the educational aspect of his lessons.

By buying the course, players will gain a year-long subscription to over 70 educational videos, monthly tournaments, a private Discord channel, “personal communication”with s1mple and his friends, and exclusive access to private streams.

Despite only being launched a little over a month ago, the project and its courses have already come to a near halt. Although the courses are still available for purchase, there have been reports of buyers receiving refunds and S1mple’s lesson videos being made private.

On July 17, users in the public Discord server for the project reported that lesson videos had suddenly become private. The first instance of refunds being sent out was observed on July 22.

One Discord member, who did not request a refund, speculated that the company is issuing refunds to all customers and moving forward with the situation.

Several users have also alleged that they did not receive an invitation to the advertised private Discord with s1mple.

As of June 6, the social media pages of the project have not shared any updates, and the NAVI player has remained silent about the apparent closure of his course. On June 15, the latest post on his social media account was about the Copa America final.

The quality of the courses received criticism when it was first introduced in May, as individuals deemed the initial lessons to be not worth the $149 cost.

“One user expressed their opinion in the public Discord, stating that while they hold no hatred, they believe the program is a complete scam. They noted that there are more comprehensive and free guides available on YouTube for both beginner and intermediate players.”

Prior to participating in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown with Team Falcons in June, the Ukrainian pro s1mple had been absent from competitive CS2 since October.
