Sabrina Carpenter Espresso Emote in Fortnite Removed Within 24 Hours of Release

It was less than 24 hours after the debut of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso”emote that Fortnite creators decided to pull it from the shop.

Given that the “Espresso”song was already featured in Fortnite’s Festival mode and showcased in the Reload trailer, many anticipated its eventual arrival as an emote.

As is customary for Icon Series emotes, this one was available for 500 V-Bucks and played the song on a loop. However, there was a notable issue.

What Led to the Removal of the Espresso Emote?

Most players expressed dissatisfaction with the emote due to the fact that it utilized a sped-up rendition of the track. Many voiced their discontent on social media, with some even labeling it as “garbage.”

Just a day following its introduction, Epic Games made the choice to withdraw it from sale. While they haven’t clarified the exact reasons behind the removal, the surge of complaints on social platforms right after the emote’s introduction likely played a significant role.

While there’s no confirmed timeline for when this emote might come back, looking at past occurrences with similar emotes suggests that Epic might be considering an update.

For instance, when the Rebellious Emote featuring Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” was initially launched, it had censorship issues due to the inclusion of the word “devil.” Yet, this was later rectified to include the word, indicating that the Caffeinated emote could potentially be revised in response to community feedback.

Players have long expressed concerns about emotes featuring a sped-up version of original songs, especially with Icon Series emotes associated with famous figures, artists, and influencers. However, it’s worth noting that not every emote falls into this category; for example, NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” Emote does not feature a distorted version.
