On June 9, a Taiwanese news source revealed that Byun Woo-seok, who was in Taiwan for a fan event, was being harassed by obsessive fans. The report stated that these individuals rented more than 10 vehicles in a single day and attempted to find Byun Woo-seok by pressing elevator buttons on every floor of his hotel. They even trailed him to the restaurant he dined at after the fan event.
Despite occurring both overseas and in South Korea, this type of behavior has been a persistent problem. Fans have even shown up at private events, such as a drama wrap-up interview, which is out of the ordinary.
The agency of Byun Woo-seok responded on May 30, expressing worry over the disturbance caused by large groups of people during the artist’s activities. They stressed the negative impact of unauthorized visits by certain fans to private events, which were causing considerable distress for both the artist and event organizers. The agency urged fans to avoid attending unofficial locations on the schedule.
The statement also cautioned against tracking the artist’s vehicle, making unscheduled visits, and filming at private locations such as his home without permission, as well as unlawfully obtaining personal information. These actions will result in severe legal consequences.
Despite the warnings, it appears that obsessive fans are disregarding them, resulting in Byun Woo-seok being constantly subjected to invasions of privacy.
