Sakamoto Days Anime Announced and Coming Soon

“Following a period of uncertainty, the Sakamoto Days anime has now been officially announced, accompanied by a trailer showcasing the adaptation and its release date.”

Despite ongoing rumors, an anime adaptation for the highly acclaimed manga Sakamoto Days by Yuta Suzuki has yet to be confirmed. However, there was a brief moment of anticipation when an adaptation for Netflix was briefly mentioned in a trade magazine before being taken down without explanation.

The evidence had been leading to an impending event, and now we have concrete proof with an official announcement. The trailer, special visuals, and confirmation of the Sakamoto Days anime’s January 2025 release all point towards its debut.

TMS Entertainment, known for their work on popular series such as Dr Stone, Fruits Basket, and Bakugan, is in charge of the production of the series. The series is in capable hands with Masaki Watanabe as the director and Taku Kishimoto as the scriptwriter, which is an exciting prospect.

After his time at Studio Ghibli, Taku ventured out on his own and began writing screenplays for popular anime series such as Haikyuu!! and Erased. In 2022, he wrote the script for The Deer King, which was widely praised as one of the top anime films of the year.

The potential involvement of Netflix is not mentioned in the trailer or official PR. It is possible that Netflix will have their own advertising for the subtitled and dubbed versions if the service is being distributed in English-speaking territories. However, at this time, there is no evidence to support this connection.

Despite being a retired hitman, Tara Sakamoto is forced back into action when his family becomes the target of vengeful mobsters. The trailer for Sakamoto Days showcases a significant investment in bright and lively aesthetics, with the addition of CGI to enhance the overall effect.
