In the preceding chapter of Sakamoto Days, Takamura made his contemptuous opinion known that the world is filled with people who do not deserve to live. In a bid to save Uzuki, Haruma ended up being dismembered.

As Takamura approached Uzuki, Sakamoto and Nagumo positioned themselves on either side of the old man, one brandishing a bench and the other his staff. Despite their injuries, they were unsure if they could hold their own in the fight. Their attempts to block and push aside their opponent were futile.

Despite being armed only with his mace, Gaku fearlessly leaped into action. As Takamura aimed his katana at Gaku’s face, the quick-thinking warrior caught the blade with his teeth and snapped off its tip. He then grabbed Takamura by the collar and used the broken piece of the blade to slash his face, causing him to lose his right eye. However, Gaku’s valiant efforts were not enough to defend against Takamura’s counterattack, as he was ultimately stabbed in the heart.

Despite his damaged blade, Takamura launched an attack on Sakamoto and Nagumo, who were both paralyzed by the old man’s skill. As they collapsed, they came to the realization that their chances were slim and that Takamura was unbeatable.

As Takamura approached Uzuki, he was overwhelmed with memories of his past with Gaku, Haruma, and the other members of the Al-Kamar orphanage group. He also couldn’t help but recall Rion and fell to the ground, gripping his head and crying out in anguish. He couldn’t understand why he always seemed to lose those closest to him. Then, it seemed as though he started hearing voices in his mind.

In a split second, Takamura, who had intended to harm Uzuki, was suddenly disarmed and fatally wounded, mirroring his own actions towards Gaku. The perpetrator of this act was revealed to be Uzuki himself, who had taken on the persona of Takamura due to extreme stress. Sakamoto and Nagumo could only watch in shock and disbelief.

The passing of his dear companions Gaku and Haruma has deeply shaken Uzuki. While he has taken revenge against their killer, Takamura, the aftermath of his altered demeanor is yet to be determined.

Rion’s desire was for Sakamoto and Nagumo to eliminate Uzuki, but Takamura’s strong personality may not allow for the same outcome. Additionally, it is possible that Takamura and Rion are not the only personalities he can manifest, as each time he reaches the brink of death, he may uncover a new means of survival.

In chapter 168 of Sakamoto Days, readers will also be eager for the focus to return to Asaki, whose assassination scheme led to numerous casualties.
