In the preceding chapter, it was evident that Torres had reservations about killing Sakamoto due to his aversion towards the act. He had taken up the profession of an assassin mainly for financial reasons, as it enabled him to continue his gambling habits despite being in significant debt.

Sakamoto reminded Torres that his wife had once stated that gamblers were foolish, after Torres had insulted assassins. However, Torres argued that only those who ended up losing were foolish. Sakamoto then pointed out that Torres was currently losing, but Torres remained confident, stating that the game was not yet over and he would ultimately triumph.

After the exchange, Sakamoto attempted to kick Torres in order to knock him into a nearby car. However, Torres skillfully defended himself and warned Sakamoto that he was not a formidable opponent, citing the one billion yen bounty on his head as insufficient.

Torres utilized sand-blasters concealed within his coat cuffs to launch a powerful attack, causing Sakamoto to be sent flying backwards. These devices were his preferred choice due to their cost-effectiveness over purchasing bullets.

Despite his advanced years, Torres did not solely rely on his sand blasters, as he was also quite nimble. Depending too heavily on his weapons would give Sakamoto, who was known for his speed and agility, the advantage of evading his strikes.

As the fight continued, they found themselves on a moving train. During the chaos, Sakamoto collided into a train car and Torres was able to pry open the floor, causing a child to almost fall. However, Sakamoto quickly sprang into action and rescued the child.

Following that, Sakamoto was confronted with yet another direct sand blast from Torres at a close range. As they were both falling, Sakamoto seized Torres and brought him down with him. They collided with a car, with Torres bearing the brunt of the impact from the fall.

Upon being injured, Sakamoto made the decision to retreat. To his surprise, Torres did not prevent him from doing so. As Sakamoto reflected on the situation, he came to the realization that Torres had the ability to kill him if he had desired to. This caused Sakamoto to ponder on how he could use the situation to his advantage.

Despite the fact that Torres could have easily killed Sakamoto due to his low bounty, he chose to spare his life. This was because Torres saw potential in Sakamoto and believed that he could become a more powerful and skilled individual.

In the upcoming chapter 180 of Sakamoto Days, fans can anticipate witnessing Sakamoto’s determination to better himself. Despite his failures in finding a mentor and increasing his power through battling the Order, it will be intriguing to discover his next course of action.
