Sakamoto Days: Upcoming Anime Set for January 2025 Release, Reveals PV and Key Visual

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Shonen Jump revealed that they will be producing an anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days. Along with a promotional video and key visual, it was announced that the anime is scheduled to debut in January 2025. Additionally, the main staff and cast for the anime have also been unveiled through the short video.

The Sakamoto Days anime is an adaptation of the popular manga series of the same name, created by Yuto Suzuki. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, since November 2020 and has 16 tankobon volumes currently in circulation. The production of the anime adaptation is being handled by TMS Entertainment.

Sakamoto Days anime set to debut in January 2025

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Shueisha’s Shonen Jump hosted a special event, the Jump Press, on their official YouTube channel to announce the development of the Sakamoto Days anime. A preview video and key visual were also unveiled, revealing a scheduled release date of January 2025 for the anime.

The brief video notably showcases the former hitman, Taro Sakamoto, in both his past and present forms. It opens with a scene depicting Taro in his youth, mercilessly eliminating his foes. The PV reveals that Tomokazu Sugita is the voice behind the main character, Taro Sakamoto.

In addition, the brief video offers viewers a sneak peek into the former assassin’s personal life, showcasing his wife, Aoi Sakamoto, and daughter, Hana. Shin Asakura also makes an appearance in the PV. The trailer concludes by confirming the anime’s release in January 2025.

A recently released key visual for the Sakamoto Days anime showcases both Taro Sakamoto’s past and present avatars. The artwork effectively captures the intimidating essence of the former hitman, with the anime’s logo prominently displayed in the center. Additionally, a character design for Taro Sakamoto has also been revealed.

It is worth mentioning that the Sakamoto Days anime has recently launched an official website and X (previously known as Twitter) account to provide fans with PV and visual updates. Additionally, the website has shared statements from Tomokazu Sugita, the voice actor of Taro Sakamoto.

The highly regarded voice actor is thrilled to portray the former hitman in this action-packed comedy anime. He has reassured fans that he will fully commit to his role.

The mangaka, Yuto Suzuki, has also shared his comments. When translated from Japanese to English, his words are as follows:

“Sakamoto Days will be made into an anime! I’m amazed that my work will be shown in TV! It’s all thanks to the fans who have supported me, thank you so much!!”

The mangaka also expressed his desire for his fans to continue supporting him in making the series more thrilling.

The main staff for the upcoming Sakamoto Days anime has been announced through its official trailer. TMS Entertainment has chosen Masaki Watanabe as the director of the series, while Taku Kishimoto will supervise the scripts. Additionally, Yo Moriyama has been confirmed to join the team as the character designer.

The anime is adapted from Yuto Suzuki’s manga series and centers on Taro Sakamoto, a renowned assassin who is both feared and revered. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he unexpectedly falls in love with a woman.

Even after retiring from his business and marrying his love, Taro continues to take care of himself and starts running a private store, which causes him to gain weight. However, he never forgets his old ways and always comes to his family’s aid when they are in trouble.
