WWE Superstar Sami Zayn has recently called out the developers of WWE 2K24 for a glaring error in spelling his name incorrectly.
Although WWE 2K24 is well into its post-launch phase, 2K Games continues to roll out regular updates. For gamers still engaged in breaking rings, launching opponents through announce tables, or pursuing various in-game achievements, there are still plenty of reasons to remain invested.
Many of these updates are particularly focused on the MyFACTION mode, with the latest update featuring a Persona Card for WWE legend Scott Steiner. However, during the promotion of this update, 2K Games made an error related to the beloved Sami Zayn.
A spelling mistake in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter) prompted Zayn, a former Intercontinental Champion, to respond directly. He humorously criticized the publisher for misrepresenting his name in their marketing content.

Fortunately, a dedicated WWE fan account preserved this exchange for future reference and provided some context surrounding the issue. A screenshot of the initial post shows 2K Games mistakenly referring to the star as ‘Sami Zane’.
Zayn’s response resonated with his charismatic on-screen persona and was infused with humor. “That’s cool. I can’t wait to play as Cody Roads and Roman Rains,” he sarcastically remarked. 2K attempted to diffuse tensions with a light-hearted reply, stating, “We see what you did there.” Zayn quickly shot back with, “Yeah I don’t think you do,” showing no signs of backing down.
Fans have speculated that this incident may reflect a disconnect on the part of the publishers with the wrestling community. One commenter noted, “It’s been obvious for years the games are made by non-wrestling fans.”
Interestingly, after Zayn was recently stripped of his Intercontinental Championship by Bron Breakker, another legacy star, the mishap could be seen as a petty jab—though it’s unlikely that such an intentional slight occurred.
