Despite some initial anxieties from fans as it entered its fourth season, the Demon Slayer series continues to be thoroughly enjoyable. One of the major contributing factors to this success is the animation studio’s excellent incorporation of original anime scenes. These additions have injected new energy into the current story arc, which was originally lacking in content from the manga.

Despite receiving a significant amount of screen time in the previous two episodes, Sanemi Shinazugawa’s explosive fighting style and short-tempered nature have made him a fan favorite. However, his treatment of Genya has garnered criticism from fans. Additionally, his actions do not lead to the most favorable outcomes, exemplified by the presence of Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Hashira.

Sanemi Shinazugawa, also known as the Wind Hashira, is not known for displaying empathy. His actions, such as stabbing Nezuko, have led to him being seen as a negative character, as he never showed remorse for his actions. However, his behavior can be attributed to his past experiences. It is revealed that Sanemi and his brother Genya lost their mother at a young age, and Sanemi had to bear the burden of his brother accusing him of their mother’s death.

Despite all of the events that occurred in the animanga series, Sanemi’s main desire remained for his brother to lead a happy and satisfying life. He did not wish for his younger sibling to constantly put his life in danger by fighting against demons. Despite Sanemi’s disapproval and criticism, Genya remained determined to stay in the Demon Slayer Corps, causing Sanemi’s anger to escalate even further.

In a burst of anger, he charged towards Genya with the clear goal of gouging out his eyes. The force of his attack could have resulted in permanent blindness for Genya. Tanjiro Kamado stepped in to prevent any harm to Genya’s vision. Although Sanemi’s actions left a cut on Genya’s face, his determination remained unshakable. It is impossible not to consider that even losing his sight would not have hindered his progress as a skilled demon hunter.

The fact that Gyomei Himejima exists serves as evidence that Genya could have remained a demon hunter if he had made that choice. If Sanemi had indeed caused damage to Genya’s vision, it would have been futile as Genya would not have left the Demon Slayer Corps. Gyomei, who was born blind, had ample time to train and eventually become the strongest Pillar. Although Genya may not have reached Gyomei’s level, he could have utilized his other senses and contributed to the Corps in any way possible.

Thanks to Tanjiro’s actions, Genya was able to assist the organization without any obstacles. As the manga progressed, Genya’s contributions proved to be crucial in some of the most pivotal moments of the series.

Keep an eye out for additional updates on anime and manga throughout the year 2024.
