Sarada’s Growth and Love for Boruto

With Sarada Uchiha’s Mangekyo Sharingan finally unlocked at the conclusion of the Boruto manga, fans are eagerly anticipating her development in the sequel series, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Beyond just her physical prowess, the manga hints at a growth in her feelings for the main character.

Anime fans often discuss a character’s growth in terms of their strength or mental resilience. In the same way, fans were hoping to see Sarada utilize her Mangekyo Sharingan in the sequel manga, but instead, her mental resilience has been the focus.

Nonetheless, in her situation, her mental strength is linked to her fondness for the main character.

Please be advised that this article contains spoilers from the Boruto manga.

Sarada’s Growth Through Her Affection for Boruto

As fans may recall from the prequel manga, at the beginning of the series, she was depicted as secretly watching over the protagonist. The manga did not explicitly state that Sarada had feelings for him, but rather hinted at it through subtle moments.

In the anime, even during battles against powerful opponents, the animation studio portrayed Sarada’s concern for the protagonist through subtle gestures. These actions were not typically shown on her face, but rather conveyed through her body language. This conveyed the message that Sarada was trying to conceal her feelings for the protagonist.

The initial instance where Sarada’s sentiments towards Boruto were brought into question was when Sumire Kakei inquired about her feelings towards him. Sumire, being intrigued by the main character, posed this question. However, despite the competition, Sarada firmly denied having any romantic feelings for her fellow Team 7 member.

However, towards the end of the prequel manga, everything changed as Sarada could not bear to see her love interest facing trouble alone. With determination, she rushed to his aid and bravely confronted Kawaki in his defense.

Despite her initial failure in her mission, Sarada’s growing feelings for Boruto played a crucial role in saving him. This was especially significant as her father, Sasuke Uchiha, had also been affected by Eida’s Omnipotence and was determined to go after Boruto. However, thanks to Sarada’s evolving emotions, she was able to unlock her Mangekyo Sharingan and persuade Sasuke to listen to her and aid their student.

Despite this, Sarada’s growth continued in the sequel manga series as she consistently defended Boruto and attempted to make the Hidden Leaf Village, particularly interim Hokage Shikamaru Nara, listen to his side of the story. Despite facing the overwhelming power of Eida’s Omnipotence, Sarada persisted in her defense of the protagonist, determined to eventually convince others to accept the truth.

Although Sarada was still conscious of openly displaying her affection for the protagonist, she hugged him when Boruto returned to the Hidden Leaf Village. This showed that she had accepted her feelings internally, unlike before when she used to hide them.

After the Shinobi’s battle against Hidari and Jura, Sarada’s emotions towards the protagonist were evident. Despite her own injury from Jura, her main concern was for Boruto who had been struck by Divine Tree Jura’s attack. Although fans may be anticipating Sarada’s use of the Mangekyo Sharingan, her growth has already been showcased.
