Recently, various photos and videos of Red Velvet’s Irene and Seulgi in swimsuits were shared in a private group chat of sasaeng fans (obsessive fans).
The footage was secretly filmed in 2023 by Indonesian sasaeng fans, who acquired information about Red Velvet’s accommodation during the SM Town concert in Jakarta.
After learning the location, they booked rooms at the same hotel as Red Velvet to stalk the members more easily.
Subsequently, the sasaeng fans followed Irene and Seulgi to a private pool, where they photographed and filmed the two idols without consent. This alarming situation was only revealed after screenshots of the sasaeng fan group chat were exposed.
Sadly, despite this being a serious breach of the artists’ privacy, many Indonesian fans chose to remain silent.
They were even advising each other against translating and sharing such information in English, fearing that SM would take action and potentially cancel SM Town concerts in the country.
