SBS To Dig In The Case Of Late Goo Hara’s Lost Safe And Its Alleged Connection To Burning Sun

Scheduled for June 22nd, “Unanswered Questions” will delve into the enigma of the stolen safe from the home of the deceased Goo Hara and endeavor to uncover the identity of the person caught on CCTV.

The Tragic Death of a Whistleblower

Last month, a BBC documentary about the “Burning Sun Gate”caused a major stir when it uncovered disturbing truths in private chat rooms involving K-pop idols. This film also shed light on the late Goo Hara, who played a pivotal role in revealing the links between the suspects and senior police officials.

Despite her immense popularity both domestically and internationally, KARA member Goo Hara tragically passed away on November 24th, 2019 at the age of 28. Prior to her death, she had been actively promoting as a solo artist in Japan and had briefly returned to Korea before her untimely death at her residence in Cheongdam-dong. Approximately 2 months after her funeral, a shocking incident took place.

The Disappearance of the Safe and the Mysterious Man

“The act of stealing from the deceased’s home is completely unacceptable. How could someone even consider doing such a thing?”

On January 11th, 2020, Goo Hara’s family conducted a 49-day memorial ceremony, a customary Korean tradition. Just two days later, on January 13th, Goo Hara’s brother, Goo Hoin, went through her belongings at her residence in Cheongdam-dong. During this process, he noticed that her personal safe, typically kept in a wardrobe on the second floor, was no longer there. Although other valuable items in the house were undisturbed, the safe, which usually housed old cell phones, was missing.

The CCTV footage captured a mysterious man entering the front yard of her brother’s house shortly after midnight on Jan. 14, only a few hours after the grieving family had vacated the premises. The perpetrator vanished from the footage after being seen in the front yard and confidently heading towards the front door.

What was the man in the CCTV aiming for

“It is possible that the criminal was familiar with Goo, as evidenced by their attempt to enter the password. It would be illogical for a thief to attempt to enter the password, correct?”

According to the CCTV footage, the suspect attempted to open the front door lock before disappearing from view. He was described as wearing a hat and mask, but due to the blurry quality of the footage, the police were unable to identify him. As only two brief clips were obtained, it remains unclear how the perpetrator gained entry.

Was the crime committed by the criminal upon the request of someone in order to conceal the information stored in Goo’s mobile phone, which was kept in a safe? Is this criminal connected to the Burning Sun case? In the show ‘Unanswered Questions’, the missing safe case is investigated using 3D simulation and re-enactment. Advanced AI technology is utilized to restore the colorization of infrared CCTV footage and create a montage in order to trace the movements of the criminal.

This installment of “Unanswered Questions”is scheduled to be broadcasted on June 22nd at 11:10 PM (KST).
