Scission Encounter Guide for Destiny 2: Root of Nightmares

Raids in Destiny 2 always have some form of gimmick that is absolutely unique and found nowhere else in the game. As a result, the initial encounter in any particular raid will often teach players the mechanic that they will encounter throughout the action. While the First encounter may be considered a tutorial, the second encounter will need players to have a firm grasp on the node and buff mechanics of Root of Nightmares.

The second encounter in Scission will force Destiny 2 players to apply what they have learned to a circumstance in which there are now two types of nodes. This tutorial will walk you through the second encounter and show you how to defeat the Scission encounter.

Players will need to activate nodes with the boost they receive from the first node, much like they did in the first encounter. The main alteration in this encounter is that there are now two distinct nodes and buffs. While the Light nodes and the Field of Light benefit are still present, the Dark nodes and the Flow of Darkness bonus are introduced in the second encounter. Dark nodes can only be triggered if the Flux of Darkness bonus is active.

Players will want to have clean weapons for this battle once again. Barrier Champions will arise at random throughout the encounter, so players must be prepared to deal with them. This encounter has two sides with a vast gap between them. Three players will move to the right side, while three will go to the left. Two players on each squad will manage to add clearing while the other player obtains the buff and activates nodes. It is up to the two node activation players to determine whether they wish to focus on only one type of node or alternate between the two. Nonetheless, communication is essential both before and during the interaction.

As the fight begins, a debuff that lasts two minutes will emerge. Everyone dies when the debuff ends (as is standard when it comes to wiping mechanics in a raid). To prevent this debuff from killing everyone, players must activate all of the nodes on both sides of the arena. Because there are both Light and Dark nodes on both sides, players activating nodes will need to go from one side to the other. The gap between the sides is considerably too wide to be crossed with standard leaping. Fortunately, there are leaping platforms that players may use to traverse.

Gamers attempting to cross must position themselves exactly in front of the leaping platform. They must next search for a floating item in the abyss. Shot it, and the platform will launch players to the opposite side.

When using these leaping platforms, be cautious because it is quite simple to either not launch far enough or launch too far and crash into a wall.

Everyone else will focus on killing adds while the two players activate the nodes. When the other two players reclaim the bonus, they should notify everyone else so that everyone else may benefit from it as well. This is because protected attackers will appear and can only be slain by someone who possesses one of the bonuses. Because the other two players will be too busy activating nodes before the timer runs out, it’s up to everyone else to deal with the protected adds.

The timer will finish and the debuff will be removed after all of the nodes have been activated. Two mini-bosses will appear on each sides at this moment. Only players with the bonus may damage these foes. After eliminating the two mini-bosses, players can advance to the next floor and repeat the procedure of killing adds and activating nodes. There are three floors in all, and after the nodes are engaged, players will complete the fight and be able to progress deeper into this new raid with their brand-new treasure.

Destiny 2 is currently available on the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
