Scott Peterson’s Theory on Laci’s Killer Revealed in New True Crime Documentary

Despite being found guilty of his wife Laci’s murder, Scott Peterson is now putting forth his own explanation for the events that occurred on Christmas Eve in 2002.

Thanks to Face to Face, Peacock’s latest docuseries on true crime, viewers are once again exploring the case of Scott and Laci Peterson.

The three-part interview-style series has appeared as Peterson prepares to battle for a retrial in order to overturn his life sentence without the possibility of parole for the killing of Laci.

One of the main focuses of both the documentary and Peterson’s approach is his belief that his wife was abducted and murdered by unknown individuals who were robbing a nearby residence.

The morning Laci went missing, a house in the same neighborhood as the Petersons, located in Modesto, California, was burglarized. However, Peterson alleges that the police did not thoroughly investigate this incident while searching for Laci.

“According to Scott, numerous individuals were present during the burglary. He also believes that Laci ventured over to the location to investigate and was subsequently abducted.”

“Despite the evidence, they chose to disregard it and stick to their theory. I was not the only person who saw Laci that day; there were numerous credible witnesses who also saw her walking.”

Tom Harshman, a witness featured in Face to Face, claims to have seen Laci getting into the burglars’ van.

During an interview with Shareen Anderson, Harshman vividly remembered the incident. They had come across a pregnant girl in a van and were concerned about her well-being. When she needed to use the bathroom, they forced her to do so behind a fence and then forcefully returned her to the van. The girl appeared frightened as they manhandled her.

Despite receiving more support from these testimonies, the theory was still dismissed by California police during the height of the investigation in the early 2000s.

According to Detective Doug Ridenour, who spoke with The Modesto Bee, two men were apprehended for a burglary, but the Modesto Police Department determined they were not involved in the disappearance of Laci Peterson.

“Ridenour declared that one crime has been resolved and they can now redirect their focus to Laci’s disappearance, which they are certain to find a resolution for.”
