Scrapped Grand Theft Auto 5 DLC details surface years after being canceled

Years after being canceled by Rockstar Games, another part of the scrapped ‘Agent’ DLC for GTA 5 has recently surfaced online.

Rockstar has consistently delivered exceptional single-player DLC for their games, often including beloved classics. Fans of GTA and Red Dead Redemption hold titles such as The Lost and the Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony, and Undead Nightmare in high regard.

Despite the immense popularity of GTA Online and the continuous updates it has received over the last decade, many fans have expressed a desire for a DLC to continue the story of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor in the single-player side of the game. However, the iconic game developers chose to focus on expanding GTA Online rather than releasing a DLC for the single-player mode in GTA V.

It is believed that Trevor was originally intended for a single-player DLC called ‘Agent’, in which he would have taken on a James Bond-like role. However, many of the assets for this DLC were eventually incorporated into GTA Online’s Doomsday Heist.

Recently, a portion of the scrapped update’s soundtrack has resurfaced thanks to a tweet from GTAFocal. The tweet shared an unreleased track from the band Sweet Valley, which had been previously hidden behind a paywall in 2021.

The song, titled ‘Clifford’, shares its file name with the update’s codename and has a fast-paced, action-packed sound that would be fitting for a car chase or shoot-out scene.

Over the years, additional information about the canceled update has emerged. Actor Steven Ogg, who portrayed Trevor, disclosed that he had completed motion capture work for the update. Despite this, Rockstar ultimately abandoned the project.

Despite other leaks suggesting the possibility of North Yankton and Liberty City-themed DLCs for single-player, these claims remain unconfirmed as none of the GTA 5 actors have confirmed them.

Despite the unlikely possibility of a single-player DLC, Ned Luke, the actor who portrays Michael, has expressed his willingness to reprise his role for a potential ‘final’ update for GTA Online. However, it remains to be seen if Rockstar will take him up on his offer.
