A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2 is confirmed to premiere on October 2, 2024. This announcement was made by the official staff of the Donghua through a promotional video released on September 11, 2024. The clip also introduces additional cast members and features a preview of the opening theme song along with a new key visual.

Produced by LAN Studios, A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2 serves as a sequel to the first season, which consisted of 12 episodes that aired between July 2022 and October 2022. The series is a Chinese Donghua based on Kaisei Enomoto’s light novel series of the same name.

On September 11, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2 shared the main trailer, which announces the show’s release date of October 2, 2024.

According to the broadcast information, A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2 will air every Wednesday on Tokyo MX at 25:05 JST, starting from October 2, 2024 (effectively October 3, 2024, at 1:05 AM JST), and on BS Fuji channel beginning October 9, 2024, at 12:30 AM JST.

The Donghua will be available for streaming on d Anime Store prior to the TV broadcast at 11 PM JST starting October 2, 2024, with wider availability on other streaming services starting October 5, 2024. Crunchyroll previously streamed the first season concurrent with its Japanese airing.

The latest trailer showcases Reiko and other main characters set to appear in season 2, teasing the sequel’s narrative alongside various comedic and action sequences. Additionally, it previews the show’s opening theme, “Brave One,”performed by Fukurow Note.

The official staff also unveiled a new key visual highlighting the Herbivore dragon, Reiko, Rosetta, and Vanessa.

New cast members include Haruki Ishiya as Edward, Chafurin as Pravas, and Kohei Amasaki as the Mysterious Man. The returning cast features Houchu Ootsuka as the Herbivore dragon, Aoi Yuki as Reiko, Iori Noguchi as Rosetta, and Yui Ishikawa as Vanessa.

LAN Studios, responsible for the production of the first season, returns for A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized season 2, with Simweni credited as the director and composer alongside Li Jiajie.

This Donghua follows Reiko, a young girl who offers herself as a sacrifice to a dragon, hoping to protect her village from the evil forces of the Demon King. However, she soon learns that the 5000-year-old dragon is a gentle herbivorous creature. Season 2 will continue the adventures of Reiko and the Herbivore Dragon in the newly introduced Asuga kingdom.
