Secret Tip: How to Win Difficult Battles in Baldur’s Gate 3 with a Surprising Twist

In Baldur’s Gate 3, there is a vast selection of items and equipment that can greatly enhance your power, but there is one item in particular that can significantly ease battles, albeit with a unique twist.

The Iron Flask, obtainable early on in Baldur’s Gate 3, is a fascinating item. During Act 1, while traveling along the Risen Road, you will encounter a group of travelers in need of assistance against Gnolls.

Despite being hidden in a chest in the same cave where they are hiding from the Gnolls, The Iron Flask is their secret. It can be accessed after defeating the Gnolls, although it may require multiple attempts.

If you are unable to obtain it here, you can also locate it in Act 3 at The Guildhall. Whichever way you acquire it, you can either open it or use it as a grenade to release the Spectator residing within.

“According to ‘UsernameLaugh’ on Reddit, adding this Beholder to any encounter or situation in the game greatly enhances the overall experience.”

The Iron Flask holds a Spectator that can make fights much easier.

Opening or throwing the Iron Flask will result in a Spectator spawning, which will then join you in any ongoing fight. This can prove highly beneficial as the Spectator can serve as a powerful temporary ally during challenging situations.

One player shared that they often use it in the House of Grief before entering themselves. They find the fight to be quite challenging, but using this tactic allows them to inflict damage and also receive some in return.

The unique aspect of utilizing The Iron Flask in this manner is that the Spectator contained within is not truly an ally. After all adversaries have been vanquished, it will inevitably turn against you. Therefore, be prepared to eliminate it yourself once it has wreaked havoc on your enemies.

Alternatively, as an Oathbreaker Paladin, you have the option to utilize Control Undead on the Spectator (after its demise, of course) and command it to join you in battle against your foes. This effectively grants you the advantage of facing multiple foes with minimal effort.

Finally, if you throw The Iron Flask into a building and use Arcane Lock on the door, you can ensure that the brunt of the battle is not directed towards you and the Spectator will do the work for you.

Whatever your decision may be, be sure to grab The Iron Flask and utilize it creatively. Whether you want to gain XP, gain an undead follower, or receive aid in challenging battles in Baldur’s Gate 3, it is definitely worth obtaining.
