Secret Uncovered: Players of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Overlooked a Dark Truth in the Pokedex

The Paldea region could possibly have lost a Pokemon trainer due to a disturbing image found in the Scarlet & Violet Pokedex.

The Pokedex is well-known for its disturbing references to the violent behavior exhibited by Pokemon. These include instances of cannibalism and even the killing of humans. For example, Froslass is known for preserving the bodies of its victims by turning them into frozen statues in its lair.

Despite their prevalence, the majority of these unsettling occurrences are not depicted on screen. In fact, most of these actions are deemed apocryphal within the Pokemon universe, leading to the emergence of rumors and legends surrounding these mysterious creatures.

Upon observation by a user on the game’s Reddit, it has been suggested that Pokemon Scarlet & Violet may provide evidence for the dark information recorded in the Pokedex. Specifically, the images displayed in the Pokedex after capturing a Pokemon (such as Hatterene) are noteworthy.

Hatterene’s Pokedex entry in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet states that it first immobilizes intruders with a blast of energy, and then uses its psionically enhanced claws to attack them.

In the Pokedex photo of Hatterene, the creature is depicted pointing at someone, whereas in the DLC picture unlocked in the Kitakami Pokedex, the camera is angled upwards from the ground as Hatterene stands above with its claws poised to attack.

It is possible that Hatterene attacked someone who entered its territory and attacked them, if the photos are authentic. The photographer’s fate is uncertain since it is not mentioned if the images were taken by multiple individuals.

Many trainers did not notice this mini-story in the Pokedex because the Hatenna line can be caught in the base game of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Therefore, it is likely that they did not bother to look at the DLC photos for a Pokemon they had already caught, assuming they had already obtained it.

Thankfully, observant enthusiasts caught wind of Hatterene’s purported attack, thus becoming aware of the danger of venturing into its forest and risking being stabbed.
