Secret Update to Warzone Fall Damage Amplifies Power of Meta Perk

Mountaineer has always been a valuable Perk for Warzone players, providing the ability to survive longer falls without taking fatal damage. However, with a recent unannounced decrease in fall damage during Season 5, this Perk has become even more overpowered, now allowing players to survive drops of up to 100 meters.

Currently, Mountaineer allows players to safely descend from great heights without sustaining damage. Additionally, they can also survive falls from greater distances, as long as they are able to cope with the possible stun and damage incurred.

According to the well-known Call of Duty content creator IceManIsaac, the recent update has changed the parameters for fall damage. Previously, players would take damage at a distance of 6.5 meters and die from a fall of 13 meters. However, with the addition of Mountaineer, these distances have been increased to 13 and 26 meters respectively.

Currently, these numbers have significantly increased, as players can now survive falls of up to 16 meters without the Perk. However, with the Mountaineer Perk, this limit is raised to an impressive 34 meters.

This results in an eight-meter increase, enabling you to successfully jump across all Warzone maps and survive, even if you were using the Perk and would have been killed before.

The updated Perk now enables players to fall from heights of up to 15 meters without sustaining significant damage. This is particularly beneficial in situations where one needs to make a quick escape after sustaining injury, without having to deploy their parachute.

However, the discovery made by IceMannIsaac is even more impressive. He found out that the amount of damage caused by skydiving is dependent on the velocity. By pulling back with your right stick (or pressing the down movement key on m&k), you can decrease your velocity and minimize the impact when landing on the ground.

Despite not having the Mountaineer perk, IceManIsaac was able to survive falls from heights of up to 50 meters by using a pull-back technique, as seen in multiple clips. He also asserts that with the Perk, one can forgo using a parachute entirely for drops within 100 meters.

With the recent nerf to fall damage, it remains uncertain if this new technique has become more potent. However, it does allow for a more aggressive playstyle when redeploying and descending from higher altitudes. Despite this, it is important to still consider the distance and potential fall damage, as it can greatly hinder your chances in a gunfight.

According to IceManIsaac, the change is fantastic for movement and traversal since he found the parachute animation awkward. This alteration allows players to have more freedom when making decisions.

It is uncertain whether the implementation of this technique and the decrease in fall damage was deliberate or accidental, but IceManIsaac hopes that the developers do not remove it. We will have to wait and see if Activision chooses to address this in an upcoming weekly update or the next significant patch, Season 5 Reloaded.
