On August 13th, wreaths were put on display in front of HYBE’s office building in Yongsan, Seoul, containing requests for Suga’s withdrawal from BTS. The wreaths featured strong messages condemning Suga for his actions of drunk driving, including phrases like “We celebrate your downfall,””Min Yoon-ki, please leave on your own,””Have you no remorse for your fellow members,”and “Your downfall is inevitable.”
Despite the public’s knowledge of Suga’s drunk driving incident, there were some fans who called for his withdrawal and even organized a wreath protest. However, there are also other ARMYs who are fiercely defending Suga, causing skepticism among many.
In recent times, a series of posts featuring photos of fans from abroad participating in the “Suga Challenge,”which involves holding bottles while in a vehicle, have been surfacing consistently, leaving netizens astounded. These fans are expressing their unwavering love for Suga by declaring, “I stand by Suga and BTS”and “I will continue to support you.”
Despite this, SEVENTEEN’s Boo Seung-kwan recently shared a photo on his social media promoting a beer brand. However, he also included a warning that excessive drinking can have negative effects such as stroke, memory impairment, and dementia. He also emphasized the dangers of drinking during pregnancy. Despite his efforts to promote responsible drinking, some fans of BTS noticed that the product he was holding in the photo was called “Zero Suga.”As a result, they bombarded Boo’s account with hateful comments.
Furthermore, there have been allegations that some BTS fans have participated in a challenge called the “Rosé and Jennie Challenge”which was supposedly created by BLINKs (fans of BLACKPINK) with the intent to harm the reputation of BTS and their fandom, ARMY. These ARMYs have faced backlash for their inappropriate actions, including editing photos of Rosé to make it appear as though she is involved in drug-related activities, and adding men into Jennie’s photos.
On August 6th, it was reported that Suga had fallen off an electric scooter in Yongsan-gu while under the influence of alcohol. Tests showed that his blood alcohol concentration was 0.2%, indicating intoxication.
Despite initially claiming that he had fallen while riding an electric kickboard, it was later discovered that Suga had actually been riding an electric scooter. As a result, his actions and dishonesty have sparked widespread public criticism.
