Sending Wreaths, Starting A Drinking Challenge, Criticizing SEVENTEEN, Blaming BLACKPINK: ARMYs’ Actions Amid BTS Suga’s Drunk Driving Controversy

On August 13th, in front of HYBE’s office building in Yongsan, Seoul, wreaths were displayed containing messages demanding Suga’s withdrawal from BTS. These messages strongly criticize him for drunk driving, with statements like “Congratulations on your downfall,””Min Yoon-ki, please leave voluntarily,””Have you no remorse for your fellow members,”and “Your downfall is imminent.”

Following the revelation of Suga’s drunk driving, there were fans who called for his resignation and even staged a wreath protest. However, there were also ARMYs who fiercely defended and supported Suga, causing concern among others.

In recent times, there have been numerous posts on social media with the hashtag “Suga Challenge,”featuring overseas fans holding bottles in a vehicle. These posts have been surprising netizens, as they express their strong love and support for Suga by declaring, “I stand by Suga and BTS”and “I will remain by your side always.”

Additionally, Boo Seung-kwan of SEVENTEEN shared a photo on his account promoting a beer brand, accompanied by a cautionary message about the potential negative effects of excessive drinking. Fans of BTS noticed that the product in the photo was called “Zero Suga,”and unfortunately, this realization resulted in some of them leaving harmful comments on Boo’s account.

Furthermore, there are some BTS fans who have started a challenge inspired by BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Jennie. This challenge, known as the “Suga Challenge,”has caused controversy as some believe it was created by BLINKs (BLACKPINK’s fandom) with the intention of tarnishing the reputation of BTS and their fandom, ARMY. These ARMYs have faced backlash for their unacceptable actions, including photoshopping images of Rosé to falsely depict her as a drug user and inserting men into Jennie’s photos.

On August 6th, it was reported that Suga had fallen off an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol in Yongsan-gu. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.2%, indicating a state of intoxication.

Despite initially claiming that he fell while riding an electric kickboard, it was later discovered that Suga was actually on an electric scooter. This revelation has sparked public criticism for his deceptive actions and dishonesty.
