Sentinels Valorant Player Was in “Extreme Pain” During Pivotal VCT Match

After the VCT Americas playoffs, Sentinels suffered a loss to 100 Thieves. On social media, Amine ‘johnqt’ Ouarid disclosed that he had been experiencing “severe pain” leading up to and during the crucial match of the season.

The July 17 playoff match between Sentinels and 100 Thieves held high stakes, as the winning team would advance in the bracket with a chance to qualify for Valorant Champions. However, the losing team would effectively end their 2024 season.

Prior to the match, there were already speculations surrounding Sentinels and its roster, with rumors circulating that the team was contemplating substituting Gustavo ‘Sacy’ Rossi with Rahul ‘curry’ Nemani. This was seen as a move to allow Sacy time to mourn the loss of his dog.

Despite dealing with issues that could potentially affect his performance on stage, Sacy still played in the match and Sentinels ultimately lost 2-0 to 100 Thieves. Following the match, johnqt disclosed that he was also facing similar challenges.

Sentinels won VCT Masters Madrid at the start of the season.

Apologizing for the disappointment, I want to explain that this week has been challenging for me. Unfortunately, I was unable to perform at my usual level due to extreme pain. I had to visit urgent care yesterday and I am currently awaiting the test results, hoping for a positive outcome. This update was shared by johnqt on social media.

The in-game leader for Valorant clarified that he was not attempting to justify the potential loss that could end their season. He acknowledged that two members of the team were struggling with emotional or physical issues during the match, which may have affected the team’s overall performance and unity.

Despite facing a challenging path ahead, Sentinels’ chances of qualifying for Valorant Champions 2024 are still alive. With a total of 12 championship points, their fate in the VCT Americas playoffs will ultimately determine their qualification.

Despite starting the season strong with wins at VCT Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid, the Sentinels have struggled in the latter half of the season. They were unable to secure a spot in the playoffs for VCT Americas Split 1 and missed out on participating in Masters Shanghai.
