Seonkyong Longest from Netflix’s “Culinary Class Wars” Responds to K-netizens’ Hate Comments

On October 2nd, Seonkyong Longest shared two poignant photos on her Instagram stories, highlighting the cyberbullying she has been enduring through hate comments on YouTube. In one of the images, she expressed, “This is not even the worst ones. I’m still getting comments like this non-stop since last Tuesday. So far, over 8000 of them only on one video.”

In another snapshot, she stated, “Oh, I got on Instagram too. You can see all that on my ‘Korean Pickled Cucumber’ video, the one right before the newest upload (onion salad recipe).”

The screenshots revealed a troubling array of malicious comments from Korean netizens, including remarks such as “*Oh. I see why. Your mom taught you that way, huh? LOL. Well, in that case, there’s nothing you can do… It’s not your fault” and “Let’s look into ways to die comfortably. Truly an act that betrays human decency, shaking my head. It will bring ruin to even three generations of your family, haha.” One user even disparaged Seonkyong Longest by labeling her a “black-haired foreigner,” making a reference to her U.S. citizenship acquired through her marriage to an American.
