What Are Raid Battles in Pokemon Go?
Participating in Raid Battles allows you to catch rare Pokemon.
Raid Battles occur when a Boss Pokemon occupies a Gym. You can locate them by exploring local Gyms and watching for eggs about to hatch or Boss Pokemon involved in an ongoing Raid.
As these Pokemon are exceptionally powerful, it’s advisable to join forces with fellow trainers to secure victory. Raids come in four tiers: 1-Star, 3-Star, 5-Star, and Mega Raids, with increased difficulty in higher tiers.
The effort invested in completing Raid Battles is worthwhile, as you’ll earn special items and have a chance to catch the Pokemon you defeat. In 5-Star Raids, you’ll encounter Legendaries that aren’t available elsewhere.
How to Get Raid Passes in Pokemon Go
Raid Passes are essential for participating in Raids.
A Raid Pass is necessary to engage in a Raid Battle. You can obtain one Raid Pass daily by spinning the Photo Disc at any Gym. If you exhaust your supplies, you can purchase a Premium Raid Pass from the Shop.
Remote Raid Passes are also available in Pokemon Go. These are especially useful for trainers unable to leave home, as they allow participation in any Raid Battle displayed on the Nearby screen or tappable from the Map View.
Remote Raid Passes can be acquired in the Shop or sometimes received as free gifts.
How to Catch Pokemon in Raid Battles
Premier Balls enable you to catch Legendary Pokemon.
Upon defeating a Raid Boss, you’ll have the opportunity to catch it using a set number of Premier Balls. However, catching it can be challenging, particularly with Legendaries, owing to their low capture rates.
Here are some strategies to increase the number of Premier Balls you earn:
- Inflict a high amount of damage to the Raid Boss.
- Your team inflicts significant damage to the Raid Boss.
- Control the Gym where the Raid occurs.
- Join Raids with friends.
Using Razz Berries, or even better, Golden Razz Berries, can aid in catching Raid bosses. Achieving excellent throws or executing curveballs will also enhance your chances.
Now that you’re well-informed about Raids and the Pokemon you can battle this month, gear up to catch some Pokemon—and perhaps even a Legendary. Good luck, trainers!
