After much anticipation and confirmation earlier in the year from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, a Nintendo Direct has been officially announced for June 2024 to coincide with the company’s latest financial reporting.
Numerous Nintendo enthusiasts are joining in the online buzz, and amidst the multitude of enthusiastic requests, there are numerous individuals eagerly anticipating any updates on Pokemon, including a potential gameplay reveal trailer for the highly anticipated Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Despite the optimism of some individuals regarding their predictions, one member of the community is attempting to temper excessive fan expectations by reminding Pokemon enthusiasts that game reveals typically do not occur at this type of event.
According to Joe Merrick, a well-known Pokemon content creator and the founder of the website Serebii, he does not anticipate any significant Pokemon announcements at the upcoming presentation. He also shared his opinion that The Pokemon Company would likely want to have their own exclusive reveal to ensure it receives undivided attention.
Fully expect all people to come out of the woodwork and suddenly drop lists of Pokémon Legends: Z-A stuff for the Direct tomorrow. Be wary of who you trust online.I wouldn’t go in expecting it. Personally, I think TPC would want the first look on its own so it’s the sole focus.

The guide explains that although titles such as Detective Pikachu Returns and the Nintendo Switch Online release of Pokemon Snap have been featured in Nintendo Directs, the majority of major reveals and gameplay debuts take place during specialized Pokemon Presents broadcasts or larger Pokemon Direct events.
Despite Merrick’s post, there are still fans holding onto hope as seen in the comments. One fan speculates, “I believe we will eventually get a Pokémon game, possibly not Legends Z-A. Maybe we will see Z-A around the time Nintendo unveils the Switch 2, potentially at a Pokemon Presents event in August?”
At the time of writing, Merrick responded to the post by pointing out, “Let’s not forget that Pokemon Legends: Z-A is a game for the Nintendo Switch family of consoles, including the Switch and Switch Lite. It is not a game for the upcoming Switch 2.”
Some additional remarks offer alternative ideas, including one individual who commented, “I would love to hear about a spin off, but I am not anticipating any news related to Pokémon at this particular time.”
Afterwards, a different individual expresses their dream, stating, “Honestly, I really hope that gen 1-3 will become available for purchase on the Switch eshop.”Fans have been eagerly anticipating the addition of classic Pokemon games to Nintendo Switch Online for quite some time, and it’s a concept that we fully support.
In addition, several comments inquired about mobile titles such as the upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket and the current title Pokemon TCG Live. However, when questioned about the possibility of these titles appearing in a Nintendo Direct focused on Nintendo Switch games, Merrick simply responded with a definitive “No.”
