After taking legal action against an Indonesian club promoter for using his name, Seungri also responded to netizens who accused him of picking up girls in Bali.

On August 12, the Korean media outlet Maeil Kyungjae published an article reporting that the former BIGBANG member was seen multiple times at a club in Bali on the 10th.

The report states that Seungri was likely conversing with Korean women who had visited the club, when one of them posed the question:

“Will Seung Hyun (Seungri’s real name) buy it for me?”

Afterward, a supposed voice of Seungri was heard making a suggestion:

“I will buy it. Our accommodation is 5 minutes away. Let’s go and play together.”

Upon learning of this news, K-pop fans and K-Netz swiftly voiced their disapproval towards the former idol. Despite Seungri’s recent release from prison for nine charges, including soliciting prostitution, the general perception of him remains negative.

Seungri addressed the rumor on August 13 through Daily Sports and clarified his stance:

“The woman (with me) in the photo is our acquaintance’s girlfriend who accompanied us on our vacation (in Bali). I have never spoken to Korean tourists. It was also not me who spoke to the Korean tourists, but another acquaintance who’s also with us.”

He went on to explain that he was not the individual who made the statement, “Why don’t we head to our lodging and engage in some activities together?”and added:

“It was something said by an acquaintance, but they linked it to ‘Seungri’s group’ and reported it as if I said it. Like other ordinary people, I’m just enjoying a vacation with my acquaintances. If you look at it in a bad way, it’s bad, but if you look at it differently, it’s ordinary, so it’s embarrassing.”

Following his involvement in the “Burning Sun Gate”scandal, Seungri announced his retirement from the entertainment industry and departure from BIGBANG in 2019.

After being imprisoned for 1 year and 6 months, he withdrew from the public eye. Nevertheless, he remained involved in numerous rumors, including his supposed attendance at a “Burning Sun”event in Surabaya as the “guest of honor.”

Despite the club and its promoter using his name and photo, Seungri firmly denied any involvement in the event and declared his intention to pursue legal action against them.

Despite the Indonesian promoter TSV Management already canceling the event and apologizing for its misleading poster and announcement, Seungri’s side did not show any leniency and responded to the situation.

“This is not an apology for using my photo and name, but an apology for possibly causing problems in the local nightlife environment. It’s just an excuse that they insisted they never said I would come when I said I was going to sue. I am currently preparing to file a complaint, and I plan to begin formal procedures next week.”
