Despite serving one and a half years in prison, Seungri’s reputation was severely damaged due to his involvement in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal. This resulted in his departure from BIGBANG and even after his release, he continued to face backlash from netizens for exploiting the group’s name.
Recently, speculation has been spreading on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that the ex-member of BIGBANG engaged in shameless flirting with a woman, bringing up the topic of BIGBANG.
A netizen alleged that the former idol was overheard saying to another girl, “I want to sleep with you to the rhythm of ‘Fantastic Baby’ after drinking.””Fantastic Baby”is a popular song by BIGBANG that was released in 2012.
Despite already facing criticism for his previous actions, Seungri continues to disgust netizens with his behavior in this story. Recently, the former BIGBANG member was called out for singing the group’s hit song “Bang Bang Bang”at a birthday party in Malaysia. This has caused frustration among many, as Seungri’s criminal past has already had a negative impact on BIGBANG, yet he still “innocently”performed their song in public.
Despite declaring his departure from BIGBANG and the entertainment industry, Seungri was still facing accusations in January 2019 for his alleged involvement in illegal activities such as allowing employees of the Burning Sun nightclub to assault and sexually assault customers, engage in drug trafficking, broker prostitution, and evade taxes. He was also suspected of being involved in Jung Joon-young’s 18+ chatroom.
On February 9, 2023, Seungri was released from prison after serving a 1 year and 6-month sentence for 9 offenses. These included using prostitution services, brokering prostitution, gambling, embezzlement, violating foreign exchange laws, violating food safety laws, disseminating hidden camera content, and facing increased penalties for specific economic crimes (embezzlement) and special assault charges.
Despite being released from prison, Seungri continued to live a lavish lifestyle and make appearances at various events in Southeast Asia. However, in October 2023, Dispatch released an article accusing Seungri of deliberately deceiving two women at the same time during a trip to Bali. These allegations only added to the damage to the former BIGBANG member’s reputation, causing netizens to lose faith and comment, “There’s no hope left.”
