On May 23rd, a reliable source in Thailand revealed that Seungri, the former member of BIGBANG, is currently working on opening a club in Cambodia. The investment for the acquisition of the club has already been finalized.
In January 2020, Seungri was convicted of nine charges, which included procuring prostitution, filming using cameras under the Prostitution Punishment Act, habitual gambling, and violating the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act. After a 12-day trial, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison. In May 2022, the Supreme Court upheld his sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison.
Upon completion of his term, Seungri was released from Yeoju Prison on February 9th of last year.
According to recent reports from Hong Kong media, it has been revealed that Seungri, despite the ongoing “Burning Sun Scandal”, has acquired a lavish property in Hong Kong and is allegedly making plans to establish a new club.
The Hong Kong government declared that they will adhere to established procedures when reviewing applications for talent employment visas, and will only approve those that meet the eligibility requirements. This statement was made in response to Seungri’s plan to open a nightclub in Hong Kong.
Despite Seungri’s success as a K-pop artist from BIGBANG, the Hong Kong media has primarily focused on his involvement as a core perpetrator in the “Burning Sun”incident. As a result, public criticism against him has been rapidly spreading.
The renewed focus on Seungri’s current actions is due to the recent release of a documentary by the British BBC, which investigates the “Burning Sun”scandal once again.
On May 19th, BBC published a documentary on its YouTube channel focused on the “Burning Sun”scandal. The film delves into the investigation conducted by reporters and includes interviews with victims, as well as previously unreleased footage of Seungri and other individuals involved.
The documentary features a clip of Seungri forcefully pulling the arm of a woman who was visibly intoxicated and commanding her to be quiet and follow him, all while bragging about his status as a member of the popular group ‘BIGBANG.’
Within just five days of its release, the video has already amassed an impressive 7 million views and 32,000 comments, sparking considerable interest.
