Deelay updated fans on social media.

Fortunately, there is some positive news to report: costume designer Carol Deelay took to Instagram on April 23, 2024 to share an update on the production. She joyfully announced, “Season 2 has officially wrapped!”

A previous article published on April 28, 2023, reported that the release of the second season might be postponed due to a disagreement between the show’s creators Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman. The report also stated that there were significant changes being made to the script and concerns over the high production costs for each episode, which could potentially delay Season 2 even further.

Ben Stiller disputed this, stating, “We’re not going to the break room. We’re sticking to our usual slow schedule and aiming for our usual air date. Our love for our fans and each other drives us to work hard and make the show the best it can be,”he tweeted.

In January 2024, production for Season 2 began and we were given our first glimpse: a behind-the-scenes photo of Stiller running down a hallway.

Is there a Severance Season 2 trailer?

Regrettably, there is currently no trailer available for Season 2 as of writing. However, Apple TV+ has released an official first teaser. Take a look at it below:

The initial preview for the second season of Severance premiered alongside Apple TV+’s 2024 releases. Mark, played by Adam Scott, makes a comeback to the office but appears disoriented and unsure about the current events.

Milchick greets him with a warm smile, seemingly unfazed by the events that occurred in the Season 1 finale. Fans can still anticipate the release of an official trailer.

If Season 2 is indeed released in late 2024, we can anticipate a trailer to be released approximately a month before the premiere.

The whole Severance cast is expected to return for Season 2.

In October 2023, TVLine announced several new cast members for Season 2, according to a report. These include Gwendoline Christie (known for her role in Game of Thrones), John Noble (from Fringe), Alia Shawkat (famous for her role in Arrested Development), and Merritt Wever (known for her role in Unbelievable). Other additions to the cast include Bob Balaban (known for his role in Capote), Robby Benson (from Brave New World), Stefano Carannante (from Blue Bloods), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (from The Tourist).

There is uncertainty surrounding the potential appearance of Yul Vazquez as Peter “Petey” Kilmer, a former Lumon employee and friend of Mark’s “innie” , due to his death in Season 1. However, it is possible that we may see him in flashbacks as Mark navigates the aftermath of Season 1.

Possible plot for Season 2 of Severance

The events of Season 1’s finale, in which we witnessed the characters venturing into the outside world, will undoubtedly have an impact on the storyline of Severance Season 2.

Severance Season 2 has a multitude of pressing inquiries that it must address.

Season 1 concluded with an incredibly intense cliffhanger that left viewers on the edge of their seats. Helly R made a shocking discovery that she is actually Helena Eagan, the long-lost heir of Lumon. Meanwhile, Irving showed up at Burt’s door after their romantic encounter in Lumon, only to find out that Burt is already in a committed relationship. And in the final moments, we saw Dylan being tackled by Milchick for allowing the “innies”to briefly escape their bodies.

Before we even begin to discuss the major twist in the Severance Season 1 finale, it’s worth mentioning that Mark made a shocking discovery: Gemma was not only still alive, but she had also undergone the severance process and was now working at Lumon under the name Ms. Casey as a wellness counselor. As the finale credits rolled, Mark’s exhilarating scream echoed through the screen: “She’s alive!”

In an interview with Variety, Erickson hinted at the possibility of Mark being targeted first due to his relationship with Gemma, or vice versa. Although this will not be explored in the current season, it will be addressed in future seasons.

The main question remains: what makes Mark so unique? Is it truly due to his own qualities or is it more because of Gemma’s influence? These mysteries will not be resolved this season, but they will be explored in further detail.
