In a 2014 interview with Cosmopolitan, the fearless star of “Sex and the City” declared that she believes she has “the right” to discuss menopause openly.

Kim Cattrall stated, “I do not think it is something to be ashamed of. It is as natural as giving birth — it really is. It’s part of life.”

The “Sex and the City” icon elaborated: “Physically, it’s a part of how we are made. Hormonally, it’s how we are constructed. Chemically, it’s how we function. Just like everything in nature.”

She went on to reflect, “You ask yourself, ‘Am I attractive, desirable, feminine? What’s the next chapter of my life?’ One reason it’s so taboo is because we don’t discuss it — even talking to a doctor about it can be daunting.”

The “Sex and the City” star also noted, “People often frame menopause as a kind of decline for women, something negative. However, I view it as the beginning of a new phase, a new chapter. It’s about asking: ‘What am I going to do in the next 30 or 40 years, and with whom?’”

In the iconic series “Sex and the City,” Kim Cattrall portrayed the adventurous Samantha Jones, a character known for her vibrant sex life. This role garnered her five Emmy Award nominations for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.” Furthermore, the actress, now in her 70s, received four Golden Globe nominations for the same role, winning the award in 2002 for “Best Supporting Actress.”
