Shadow of the Erdtree enemy gives players Bloodborne flashbacks

Players were given a glimpse of a new enemy in Shadow of the Erdtree by FromSoftware, evoking memories of Bloodborne.

Despite not being named, FromSoftware hinted at the identity of this enemy in a post on X to build anticipation for the Elden Ring expansion.

The image instantly brings to mind a Lovecraftian creation, causing the community to reminisce about Bloodborne, another FromSoftware game that was heavily inspired by the renowned writer’s literature.

The Erdtree creature’s shadow appears towering, with thin limbs resembling paper. Its enormous head displays glowing orange spots and tiny tentacles sprouting from it, reminiscent of the features commonly associated with creatures like Cthulu.

As soon as Elden Ring fans saw this, they were quick to notice the resemblance and one user even remarked, “This reminds me of Bloodborne!”

Another commenter compares this newly designed creature to the Garden of Eyes, an enemy with a similarly large head. However, unlike this creature, the Garden of Eyes had a head mostly covered in eyeballs. These foes were infamous for their grab attacks that inflicted Frenzy damage, a debilitating status effect that dealt massive harm to players.

Some believe this unfamiliar foe bears resemblance to the Winter Lantern from Bloodborne, a terrifying opponent known for causing Frenzy in its victims.

The resemblance to both foes has players feeling anxious about the potential capabilities of this new creature in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Elden Ring features a unique status effect known as Madness, which can inflict significant damage and drain a person’s Focus Points, rendering them unable to cast spells.

There is a chance that encountering this monster may cause Madness in a player who is caught off guard. However, this remains speculation as there is no concrete evidence to support it. The true capabilities of this adversary will only be revealed upon the official release of Shadow of the Erdtree, leaving the Elden Ring community in anticipation.
