Shadow of the Erdtree: The Massive Game Dubbed Elden Ring 2 by Players

Despite the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, players are still amazed by the sheer size of Elden Ring’s first and only DLC. In fact, it has become so substantial that many are simply referring to it as Elden Ring 2.

Prior to the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, FromSoftware remained very secretive about what players could anticipate, particularly in terms of the extent of the DLC.

Although content creators were making educated estimations about the size of the Land of Shadow, Director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed in an interview with IGN that it would be roughly the size of Limgrave, or slightly larger.

When players entered the Shadow Realm, they quickly realized that Miyazaki had not fully conveyed the true scale of the expansive new setting.

Many players of Elden Ring have been rendered speechless by the game’s vastness, with some even suggesting it should be called Elden Ring 2 due to its scope in comparison to Shadow of the Erdtree.

“According to one Reddit user, it was not quite a DLC and instead felt more like a grand sequel due to its size, level of polish, and overall foundation.”

One person added, “I am blown away by the scale of this game. There’s no way this could just be a DLC.”Another comment mentioned the evolution of the video game industry, comparing Shadow of the Erdtree to an expansion rather than a DLC.

The DLC’s size is not the only surprising factor, as players have discovered the intense difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree. Even impressive builds are being easily destroyed, causing content creators worldwide to angrily give up on the game.

According to Miyazaki, the reason for this is to ensure that players experience a sense of accomplishment after conquering seemingly impossible challenges.

Our personal review awarded it a perfect score of 5/5, describing it as a magnificent final addition to Elden Ring’s DLC. This achievement also surpasses The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion, making it the top-rated DLC of all time.
