Shaquille O’Neal Discusses MrBeast’s Challenge to His Walmart Spending Record

Shaquille O’Neal Discusses MrBeast’s Challenge to His Walmart Spending Record

YouTube sensation MrBeast, known for his extravagant content, recently shared his ambition to surpass Shaquille O’Neal’s impressive Walmart spending record. However, Shaq provided a crucial insight, pointing out a significant flaw in MrBeast’s ambitious plan.

Jimmy “MrBeast”Donaldson’s entertaining and often outrageous YouTube videos have made him the most-subscribed individual creator on the platform. However, O’Neal, the legendary NBA star, expressed skepticism regarding MrBeast’s strategy for an upcoming Walmart video.

The story begins back in 2008 when Shaquille O’Neal left the Miami Heat to join the Phoenix Suns. Upon his arrival in Arizona, he found himself in an empty apartment. Seeking to furnish his space, Shaq made a late-night trip to a nearby Walmart, where he ultimately ended up spending an astonishing $70, 000. This hefty sum led American Express to freeze his credit card, suspecting it had been fraudulently used.

Why MrBeast’s Walmart Takeover Might Not Happen

During an engaging conversation on The Big Podcast, MrBeast revealed his plan to create a video where he would attempt to purchase every item in a Walmart store. However, Shaquille O’Neal quickly interjected, stating, “They won’t let you do that.”

MrBeast responded, acknowledging the challenge but insisting on considering alternative approaches: “I know; that’s the only reason I haven’t. But we’re trying to find a Walmart that’s trying to close down or whatever.”

Reflecting on his own experiences, Shaquille O’Neal recounted a time when he attempted a similar feat during Hurricane Katrina. He wanted to buy supplies for those in need at a Baton Rouge Walmart but was met with corporate resistance.“They called corporate and corporate said no. They didn’t give me a reason. I guess they like traffic?” he explained.

MrBeast’s Strategic Plan for the Video

Despite Shaq’s reservations, MrBeast formulated a strategic plan that could potentially facilitate his ambitious idea. He suggested that if he could identify a Walmart transitioning to a new location, he might succeed in purchasing all the merchandise in the store.

“What they don’t want is, while they’re restocking shelves, for someone to come in there and then it’s not there. It’s not a good look for them, ” MrBeast explained. He continued, “Imagine I just walk into Walmart and I pull up with 30 18-wheelers and buy everything on the shelf. The bill might be $7 million or something ridiculous, and then I donate it all to charity.”

MrBeast expects that his ambitious Walmart video could cost an estimated $7 million.

Shaquille O’Neal expressed admiration for MrBeast’s charitable initiatives, particularly commending a previous video in which MrBeast provided prosthetic legs to help 2, 000 amputees regain the ability to walk. Additionally, Shaq pitched a new collaborative idea for the YouTuber, jokingly suggesting they get stung by 500 bees together—a proposal MrBeast enthusiastically welcomed.
