Shigaraki’s Unexpected End in ‘My Hero Academia’ Leaves Fans Feeling Conflicted

The final war of the series is concluded in My Hero Academia chapter 423, leaving fans completely divided. Despite the show’s previous success, the latest chapter has sparked mixed reactions among viewers, largely due to the way Shigaraki’s story was concluded by the writers.

1. I stopped because you wanted to be stopped!

Despite much anticipation, the showdown between Shigaraki and Deku ended up being rather disappointing. The fight was filled with intense emotions, but lacked any significant combat.

The battle took a turn when All For One took control of Shigaraki, but it ultimately came to an end when Deku dealt a decisive blow to the series’ most infamous villain. However, this final strike against All For One resulted in Shigaraki’s death, causing discontent among many fans due to the creative choice.

Before Shigaraki could crumble, we witness him discussing his grandmother with Deku. It was his grandmother who pulled him back and prevented him from causing destruction.

Deku further explains that Shigaraki himself had expressed a desire to be stopped, and that is ultimately why Deku took action to stop him.

2. Is Shigarki’s death justified?

Initially, in the series, questioning the validity of Shigarki’s demise may have seemed absurd. However, as the storyline progressed, viewers began to recognize manipulative tendencies exhibited by this character.

Despite all the pain and suffering he endured during his childhood, it would be unjust to argue that Shigaraki deserved to die. He was never given the opportunity to truly understand himself and his true potential.

From the moment he was born, he was under manipulation. Even before All For One gave him the quirk, he took away any goodness it had, leaving Shigaraki with no choice but to follow a path of death and destruction. He was a character who was pushed down this dark path against his will.

As fans also pointed out, it is crucial to recognize that while Shigaraki’s death may have had some justification, the manner in which he died was not entirely justifiable.
