Shin Seung-ho’s Journey from Red Velvet Bodyguard to Movie Co-Star with Irene

Actor Shin Seung-ho recently discussed his on-screen reunion with Irene after years of being her bodyguard before his debut as a member of Red Velvet.

On July 11th, the YouTube channel “MMTG” posted a video featuring Jaejae’s meeting with the cast of the new movie “Pilot” , which included Jo Jung-suk, Lee Joo-myung, Han Sun-hwa, and Shin Seung-ho.

During the introduction of Shin Seung-ho, Jaejae mentioned the actor’s previous comment expressing gratitude for the opportunity to act during his school years. Jaejae added, “I was informed that he had dedicated 11 years of his youth to playing soccer, which meant he had to miss out on school trips and training camps, as well as the normal school experience.”

The actor expressed his gratitude, saying, “I was unable to attend the graduation ceremony, so I was truly thankful for the opportunity to say goodbye to my friends. As someone who is easily moved to tears, it was particularly difficult for me at such a young age. Little did I know that acting would lead me to such incredible experiences and introduce me to new friends.”

Jaejae brought up Shin Seung-ho’s previous job as a bodyguard prior to his acting debut and remarked, “I heard you were a bodyguard at a Red Velvet fansigning event. Our connection is quite unique. I first met Irene when she played the lead role in ‘Double Patty’.”

Jo Jung-suk and Lee Joo-myung were taken aback by the news.

Reflecting on his past experiences, Shin Seung-ho shared, “When I decided to leave soccer, my top priority was finding a part-time job. A friend from school was working for a security team at a department store near my home, so I decided to join after going through an interview process. As a member of the team, I was occasionally given close protection duties.”

After being asked to serve as their bodyguard, he had no idea that there were photos taken of him with Red Velvet on that day. While working on a movie with Irene, the director inquired if they had met before, to which he replied “No”. They continued filming and it wasn’t until they reached episode 10 that he recognized Irene as someone he had previously met.

Shin Seung-ho also mentioned, “I discovered that the manager who was present with Irene had also appeared in videos that I had watched.”
