On October 25, a new video titled “Is Acting Spicy? This Video is Cool Piece and Steamed Egg | Shin Ye-eun | Cosmopolitan Talk Talk” was released on the Cosmopolitan Korea YouTube channel.
In this segment, Shin Ye-eun, known for her role as Heo Young-seo in the hit drama “Jeongnyeon,” addressed various questions. When comparing her character Young-seo to Yeon-jin from “The Glory,” she stated, “Yeon-jin embodies evil traits, while Young-seo does not. There’s a notable distinction between malice and resilience. I wouldn’t classify Young-seo as a villain; she possesses a gentle nature, but her outward demeanor contrasts with that of Yeon-jin, who has a malevolent heart.”
Shin Ye-eun further elaborated on the portrayal differences, mentioning, “While Yeon-jin often wears a smile, Young-seo frequently shows a blank expression, concealing her vulnerabilities and fears. Young-seo tends to have a sharper tone or a colder demeanor, often coming across as defensive.”
When asked which fellow actor she relies on the most, she responded, “That would be Kim Tae-ri. She has always been my closest colleague and someone I greatly admire; I’ve learned a lot from her performances.”
tvN’s “Jeongnyeon,” set in the 1950s after the Korean War, follows Yoon Jeong-nyeon, a prodigy aspiring to be the premier national opera performer. The series explores themes of rivalry, camaraderie, and a remarkable coming-of-age journey. It has quickly gained popularity, achieving over 12% viewership ratings within its first four episodes.
