During his photoshoot for Marie Claire Korea, SHINee Onew was interviewed about his decision to join Griffin after departing from SM Entertainment.
The fashion magazine shared its June issue pictorial featuring the “Prince of K-pop”as its digital cover on its official social media platforms on June 10.
The male icon on the cover effortlessly displayed his remarkable talent for comprehending diverse concepts, effortlessly transitioning from a seductive pose to exuding a charismatic and playful charm.
The fashion icon aura was evident as he confidently sported a variety of styles, from jackets and shirts to knits, exuding both style and undeniable influence.
Despite his natural and simple expressions and poses, he was able to captivate the hearts and eyes of fans, demonstrating his 16-year experience in the entertainment industry.
At the same time, in addition to a visual feature, Marie Claire also shared a portion of their interview with the international sensation, specifically discussing his fresh start with Griffin Entertainment, the new agency he joined after departing from SM Entertainment.
After being dedicated to SM for nearly twenty years, starting from his trainee days, Onew alluded to the reasons behind his departure from the company when discussing his move to a new label.
“I think I took on the challenge of taking the initiative from the beginning to end. I wanted to find things on my own, instead of just taking advantage of what was already given to me.”
After departing from SM, Onew has just revealed plans for a solo comeback. During the same interview, the artist teased fans with hints about his upcoming album, giving them a taste of what to anticipate.
“I’m not hesitant in trying various things to broaden my horizons. While I’ve been focusing on singing, I’m currently focusing on the sound of instruments and sources that form the basis of music. i’m looking for something that will form harmony with my voice.”
Over the last 16 years, Onew, known as one of the top vocalists in K-pop, has been using his voice to bring hope and inspiration to listeners.
The male idol was asked about his desired musical direction for this time, to which he expressed his openness to various options. However, he emphasized that his ultimate goal has always been to positively influence his fans through his music.
“I really don’t know right now. But I hope many people will be influenced positively (by my music). It feels great to hear that (I was able to) shed a little comfort and hope to their lives. It is also the reason I’m trying to do more. Even if I break first, I think I might be able to give someone a little courage if I show them that I am also trying.”
Meanwhile, Onew, who departed from SM Entertainment, held his inaugural exclusive fan meeting, “2024 ONEW FAN MEETING – GUESS?”in both Korea and Japan.
To further advance his career, he will be holding fan meetings in other Asian cities including Macau on June 23, Manila on July 4, Kaohsiung on July 13, Singapore on July 21, and Kuala Lumpur on July 27, where he will also have the opportunity to greet and interact with his fans, known as Shawols.
