SHINee’s Taemin pleasantly surprised Shawols with the first sneak peek of his official solo lightstick! As fans eagerly discussed its design, they also uncovered its “symbolic”meaning that may have gone unnoticed by non-fans.
On August 14, Big Planet Made Entertainment (BPM) excited K-pop fans by revealing their plans to release Taemin’s solo fanlight.
A teaser photo was released, showcasing its 2D design and revealing its upcoming release date as “coming soon.”This brought great joy to Shawols (SHINee fandom) and Taemates (solo fans), who were thrilled to receive the news prior to his anticipated 2024 world tour.

Furthermore, today, Aug. 15, marks Taemin’s 10th anniversary since his solo debut, adding an extra layer of significance for the K-pop star and his fans.
At the same time, as they examined his lightstick design, perceptive fans speculated about the potential “symbolism”behind its details.
Beginning with the focal point of the fanlight, fans noted that it references Taemin’s iconic “T-pose.”This pose, featured in his popular 2017 song “Move,”became a signature highlight as he extended his arms, crossed his legs, and lifted his head.
His ICONIC T-Pose is now not only incorporated into his logo but his lightstick too??? And they’re releasing it the day before his 10 year solo anniversary? 😮#Taemin‘s artistic identity is so solidified at this point that he can be recognized from his silhouette alone 🙌 #태민 https://t.co/viJPJtgO9I pic.twitter.com/D04ff3CCCg

The origin of this pose sparked a popular debate among fans at the time, with many speculating about its inspiration.
Taemin’s music and concepts often incorporate his religious beliefs, leading some to suggest that it references the crucifixion of Jesus. Alternatively, others have drawn a connection between this pose and Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man (C.1490).

Additionally, Taemin’s admiration for Michael Jackson is widely known among fans, leading them to speculate that the T-pose is a tribute to the legendary “King of Pop.”
I get Taemin’s faith plays a part in his musicality, but I really think this is a homage to Michael Jackson his idol, Taemin references Michael Jackson in his dancing and always refers to him as his role model in music. You have to be an MJ fan to catch it. pic.twitter.com/ahFM9B0DgJ

Regardless of what his true motivation may be, the T-pose serves as a symbol of his individual journey.
However, upon learning about the release of his solo light stick, some Shawols were disappointed as they had grown accustomed to using SHINee’s official lightstick, “Shating Star,”at his solo concerts and exclusive concert fanlights.
However, fans pointed out that Taemin subtly reminds everyone that “SHINee is five”and that he will forever be a part of the group by incorporating a diamond design on the button of his solo lightstick.

In conjunction with the album launch, Taemin will embark on his first world tour, titled 2024 TAEMIN WORLD TOUR – Ephemeral Gaze.
