Despite receiving rave reviews from Shawols and Taemates (fandom), the idol also faced accusations of plagiarizing BTS Jimin in the comments section of the teaser video.

ARMYs claimed that Taemin’s “Sexy In The Air”MV teaser bore a striking resemblance to Jimin’s “Like Crazy”and “Set Me Free Pt.2,”sparking accusations of it being a knockoff. In support of their claim, they shared screenshots from Jimin’s previous MVs and pointed out similarities to Taemin’s latest teaser.

ARMYs were perplexed by the similarities between the shirts, choreographies, setups, moods, concepts, hairstyles, and backgrounds in the SHINee member’s teaser and Jimin’s past music videos, leading them to believe it was a “fan-edit”.

Nevertheless, Taemin’s fans dismissed this accusation as absurd and quickly came to the idol’s defense. They clarified that the artist had simply referenced the “killing parts”from his solo music videos in his upcoming release.

In response, they argued that the BTS member’s works bore a resemblance to Taemin’s due to his admiration for the SHINee singer.

In a previous video, Jimin acknowledged that Taemin’s artistry had a strong impact on him. As a result, Shawols argued that his music videos had a distinct “Taemin-inspired”style.

Taemin’s fans, known as Shawols, highly value his honor and legacy as an “idol of idols”and “ace of aces.”
