SHINee’s Taemin recently took on his first solo MC role in 16 years, and he revealed his reasons for choosing Mnet’s “Road to Kingdom: ACE OF ACE”as his inaugural music program hosting gig.
On August 8, a Q&A with K-pop star Taemin was released by Mnet. The article highlighted his achievements, including his debut in 2008 as a member of SHINee and his successful solo career, earning him the title “Ace of K-pop”.
Despite having 16 years of experience and a successful career, he has not yet attempted to be a solo MC. Therefore, when questioned about his decision to join the show, he explained his reasons for accepting the role.
“I accepted to become an MC (of the show) because I am grateful that I can help and cheer on my juniors in the music industry. I am also thankful to these friends who look upon me as a good senior.”
He went on to depict the atmosphere during the initial filming, stating:
“The atmosphere between the participating teams was so great. I could feel that they had a lot of respect for each other, so it was great to watch. Even within the framework of the competition, I think these positive attitudes provided me good inspiration.”
The upcoming show, “Road to Kingdom: ACE OF ACE”by Mnet, will be a survival program focused on showcasing the exceptional talent and potential of underrated or rookie boy groups. It will be an independent show airing in September, rather than a prequel to “Kingdom.”
The lineup, which includes The New Six, The Crew One (ATBO, JUST B), 8Turn, ONEUS, Younite, CRAVITY, and TEMPEST, was announced in July.
According to Taemin, the KEY FOCUS of watching the show is:
“I could intuitively relate to the stories of the participating friends and their thoughts on their teams. I think I can’t help but cheer them on when I see these parts.”
Finally, he also generated excitement for his role as an MC by playfully inviting requests from his fans. He stated:
“Please watch ‘Road to Kingdom: ACE OF ACE’ a lot, and please look at me favorably even though my hosting is a bit awkward. I think you’ll be able to feel both laughter and emotion through the stages each team has prepared. Please cheer us on together!”
Before taking on his MC duties, Taemin will make his presence known in the K-pop world as a solo artist with the release of his highly anticipated 5th mini-album, “ETERNAL”, on August 19.
